This was a weird hour for a fender breaker, all taxis over by Penn Station, nobody else, no traffic.

-Above is a small tennis club I think, up at the peninsula of the Bronx. I'd never driven locally through there before. What were the odds right when I was looking for a parking spot in the Lower East Side to have a guy want to go all the way here in the early morning? I got lost a little after dropping him off of course, oh, he rounded up to the dollar and tipped me a whole 20 or 40 cents for the fare. It didn't matter because I was happy to have done a big ride at such a dead time, and I got to see another piece of New York rare to most of us.
Flatiron District
-This idiot taxi driver refused to give me enough space to switch lanes more than once further up on Broadway despite him being empty and I having a fare. But to make things really stupid, he went right passed me on the left in the bicycle lane, trying to get to the front of all 5 cars and occupied the bike lane at the traffic light. What a complete dumb-ass! Who was he competing with? there were no other empty cabs! drive responsibly jerk! I wasn't too mad at him though, because taxi drivers who drive like this are bound to fail.

About that cab in the bike lane. I use those lanes to run. If I woulda seen that cab in my path, I would have run over his roof.

you, probably wouldn't like me so much, I pull over to pick up and drop off if i have to in them, but I try to wait for the bikers to pass. But to drive in the bike lane, blatant mockery of it all, especially for no good reason at all in his case.
I have a question for U. I just lost my job in banking & I want to know if cabbies is the right way to go as of April 18.
I just don’t want to pay all that money getting the hack licenses if I can’t get a cab to rent.

I don't know for sure. I think it costs around 400 or 500? And so it isn't too much to sacrifice. When I came in 3 years ago, it was clear enough that everybody wanted a driver. I still believe that if you ask a large enough garage, they will have room for you. I've always been afraid to switch to night shift myself because I thought my garage likes their drivers to keep a routine schedule. Everybody drives the night shift. If you want the day shift, and come in early at 2 or 3 in the morning, I would think you'd do alright, still you might wait for a cab for 2 hours.
expect to make up to 160, however depending on the day, and experience, you may make below 100, maybe even 60 bucks, in a day.
