New Police Patrol Probationary Period-

Perhaps a profound pinnacle place in police patrol tech-
Nissan Altima
The Nissan Altima Hybrid will be hitting the streets in Midtown for an approved trial run as a patrol car.

My 2 cents-

There will also be a few undercover taxi Nissans as well! Yikes I don't think I'll be able to tell them apart. This is only a test, but the department does put these cars through a trial run to have even come to this point. They are said to have more legroom and headroom than the current Impala and Crown Vic' and at a price of only $1,500 dollars more, yet over triple the numbers in saved gasoline, the department is going to save a ton of money. Remember in Midtown the traffic don't go nowhere, so contrary to the action movies, we don't get much car chases in the center of it all.

What I've been waiting for though, has been the arrival of the New Ford Fusion Hybrid to the taxi fleet. These cars seem to top every category, I don't know why they didn't put it to the test at the NYPD

Well my take on this...

First off im a car service driver in SI and im a volunteer police officer with NYC.

My thoughts on the altima is simple just wont hold up. The PD cars get driven much harder / careless than a taxi does. I can see the front seats being cramped at now wide enough for 2 officers.

With a whole gear belt on you need much extra space and the crown vic is king. Supprizingly the impala from seat is preety close to. But the impala absolutly has no power to accelerate on highway.

I think the altima will be a huge failure

They're probably only going to use them in congested neighborhoods, where they can't chase people with the vehicle. but it seems they did overlook the space issue in the trunk.
