First recording with the meter on:

This was a specific ride request, from Warren Street in TriBeCa, the Bed Bath and Beyond, to Avenue B in the East Village. Unfortunately I couldn't do the video for the entire duration, because the camera fell out of place on the bumps at Chrystie Street. We have some goings on here. It was Chinese New Year this Sunday, and I was planning on going straight through the heart of Chinatown, but then I changed course, as I started talking to myself muttering curses for being so stupid. In retrospect it would've been faster to take 6th Avenue straight to Houston. Anyway it makes for good video. Enjoy: this is a ride that took longer than 20 minutes, but at 8x speed it'll be a painless 2:11 for you at home. I am without a firewire cable to plug the drive with all of my music into my computer, but until then I can select from YouTube's long list of tracks, which are pretty good actually, no?

This was great! Do you have more of these posted somewhere in your blog?

Oh darn, this one keeps stopping to load...I give up...will try the next one...wonder why the last one played without stopping, but this one didn't. Hope you have some techie ideas about what's happening, so I can figure out a way to fix it.

thanks all! Travel Chic, you can click on my key word "video" and find the other video stuff, but really I'm just starting the videos, this video and the last one posted are really the only one's so far to have been sped up and mixed with sound and edited down a bit. but I encourage you to look at my picture portfolios, which are tab buttons up at the top of my blog page.

Star, I know when I'm at a public shared internet place the strength of the signal doesn't seem strong enough to watch videos. some suggestions if you have problems loading are:

hit the pause button and then do something else for a bit, surf some other pages while keeping my page up in the background, and after 5 minutes i figure the video will have loaded. also another idea: you can see a number below the video near the "YouTube" logo, the number probably says 380p, you can click there i think, and adjust it to a smaller number, a lower resolution, will probably load quicker.

Okay, I'm gonna take a stab at this... Warren to Church to Worth to Baxter to Leonard to Center to Houston? How did I do? This could be an idea for a type of post - video quizes for people who consider themselves experts on NYC geography. Very entertaining!

awesome of course! i didn't know that the street changes names from baxter to leonard actually, hmm good to know. and when is Leonard between centre and lafayette open to regular traffic? is there a regular time frame or just haphazard?

I think that Leonard is actually called "Hogan Place" between Baxter and Center, and Baxter kind of either ends or leads into Cleveland Place at Broome Street. I don't know about the times for Leonard being open to traffic since I drive at night and I've never noticed it being closed. Actually I hardly ever use it, or Baxter either.

that makes sense as there'd be no reason too when traffic is flowing. sweet! i just overslept so i have a day off!
